The Early Years Foundation Stage
The Cottage
Tots & Toddlers
The (twice-weekly) Toddler group provides an invaluable link between the local community and our school. Parents of young children are able to meet whilst their children enjoy age-appropriate toys and activities. A relaxed and informal introduction to a new environment
for small children.
- Refreshments available
- An essential and thriving part of the school, the Early Years department caters for children from two years. Making the most of a young child's enthusiasm for discovery, the qualified and experienced staff channel this into constructive activity whilst maintaining a sense of excitement. Each child thus follows a structured approach to learning and play in a happy, colourful and caring atmosphere.
Nursery
Our primary aim is to provide an environment that is both caring and inspiring. The Nursery sessions provide a balance of group and individual activities,
each promoting a variety of skills. Taught by specialist teachers in Music, Drama and Creative Dance, the Nursery children are predominantly learning through play with the provision of an assortment of pursuits and equipment that stimulate their natural sense of curiosity and excitement.
Glenesk recognises each child's individuality and we allow for a gradual increase in attendance each term.
- On entry at 2 years old children commence with two morning sessions and gradually increase each term.
-
Afternoon sessions and a full-time option are also available
We encourage children to work happily alongside each other promoting a strong self-image, self-esteem and respect for others.
Allowing children to learn through experience and play we provide an exciting and well-planned curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Through play, communication, observation, planning, questioning, experimenting, testing, repeating, reflecting and responding to adults and each other, the children are provided with organised purposeful activities that engage them in the learning process.
